Founded 2004 in Luxembourg as Gaming VC Holdings; reorganized as GVC Holdings (Isle of Man) 2010; bought bwin.party (2016) and Ladbrokes Coral (2018); renamed Entain plc Dec 2020. 50/50 US joint venture with MGM Resorts (BetMGM, announced July 2018). MGM made an $11B unsolicited takeover offer for all of Entain in Jan 2021; the Entain board rejected it and MGM withdrew.

GVC Holdings reported in EUR through FY2017 (FY2016 revenue EUR 723.0m as restated in the FY2017 report, originally EUR 823.3m; loss attributable to owners EUR 138.3m. FY2017 revenue EUR 896.1m, loss attributable EUR 39.2m). The group switched its presentation currency to GBP from the FY2018 Annual Report, following the March 2018 Ladbrokes Coral acquisition, restating FY2017 into GBP. FY2016 has no published GBP-restated figure and is excluded here for currency consistency; FY2017 is the earliest year shown. FY2019 revenue reflects the FY2020 report's restatement for discontinued operations (originally reported as GBP 3,600.5m).
