Formerly Scientific Games Corporation; traces roots to Autotote (1917, totalizator systems) which bought Scientific Games in 2000 and took its name in 2001. Acquired WMS (2013) and Bally Technologies (2014); spun off social-gaming unit SciPlay via 2019 IPO; sold its sports-betting division and its original lottery business in 2021; rebranded Light & Wonder in 2022 and listed on the ASX in May 2022; delisted from Nasdaq Nov 2025. Acquired Grover Gaming (charitable gaming) Feb 2025. The 2021 lottery sale is the predecessor of today's separate Brightstar Lottery / IGT lottery business — Wikipedia's Light & Wonder article does not itself use the "Brightstar" name.
